Outset Award

Outset contemporary Art Fund Israel is an Israeli Philanthropic organization, and a part of the global Outset Contemporary Art Fund.

By bringing private funding from its patrons and partners Outset Israel aims to promote Israeli contemporary art projects destined for eventual donation to leading public collections and museums in Israel and beyond.

Outset Israel is dedicated to supporting the production of new art projects that are exhibited in museums and other non-profit art spaces, donation of works by artist that are supported by Outset to museums and public art collections, hosting artists and curators at "Bialik Residence” hosting international artists and curators in Israel and  supporting research trips  ; all these to promote the integration of art professionals from around the world with the growing talent pool of the Israeli art world.

Outset Israel's patrons are personally involved with the art projects.

The patrons are provided with access to an extensive monthly program of events: curator-led tours of museums, galleries, and non-profit art spaces, exhibition openings, studio and private collection visits, lectures, research trips and international trips. Patrons are also invited to important art fairs and biennials and receive VIP tickets to openings of art fairs and event in Israel and abroad.

Outset Contemporary Art Fund Israel is delighted to announce the Outset Award for Video Greenhouse Artist. In Fresh Paint 8, the award is given for the first time to an artist whose work is featured in the Video Greenhouse. The award is aimed at encouraging young independent artists, promoting video art making in Israel, and supporting new and challenging art.

This year’s award recipient is the artist Maya Smira, for her work Borderline (2014). The award includes a 10,000 NIS grant towards the production of new work that will be displayed within the following two years in a museum or a non-profit art venue in Israel or abroad.

The jury members were Sergio Edelstein – director of the Center for Contemporary Art, Orit Bulgaru – a curator, lecturer and art researcher, and Iris Rywkind Ben Zour – director of Outset Israel.
