An urban ecologist, Tami Zori, CityTree, moves into a house designed for her by the architect Dr. Joseph Cory – a compact and comfortable off-the-grid living unit. The house relies on renewable resources and on the community to provide all the basic needs of one inhabitant, and also allows a cosy space for hosting guests. The house provides a framework for a conversation about a harmonious lifestyle which can be maintained both in a mud house and a skyscraper. Tami lives a full life in it, illustrating for the fair’s visitors and those surfing the website, the practices and consciousness shifts that stem from choosing simplicity. Members of the affluent society are invited to drop in for a cup of tea and experience a momentary disengagement from the noise.
