Fresh Paint 5 / 2012

Fresh Paint 5 was held in a new high school in a North-Western neighborhood of Tel Aviv in May 15-19, 2012. Leading Israeli contemporary art galleries presented at the fair alongside the fair's Independent Artists Greenhouse, which exhibited the bodies of works of promising artists.

Natalia Zourabova, winner of Fresh Paint 4's Most Promising Artist award, had a solo exhibition at the fair, "From the Wedding to the Funeral and Back", curated by Sarit Shapira. The Igal Ahouvi Art Collection awarded the Most Promising Artist award for 2012 to two artists: Elham Rokni and Matan Mittwoch. Or Harpaz's pair of works “Deceptive Sun” won Sotheby's Under the Hammer award.

A new community project, "True Superheroes", was launched in Fresh Paint 5 in cooperation with Shalva association, Bezalel Academy and the Fishman Group. The Secret Postcard project sold about 900 postcards and raised 160,000 NIS for outstanding students in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art's Meyerhoff Art Education Center program. 

Exhibited at the fair were special projects by Boaz Aharonovitch, Amit Berlowitz, Matan Ben-Tolila and Klaus Kleine, and Spencer Tunick, commissioned works by artists Vered Aharonovitch, Orly Hummel, Maya Attoun and Meital Katz Minerbo, Elad Larom, Lihi Turjeman and Naama Arad, and a special performative project: "Heart for the Tin Man" by Liat Segal and Assaf Talmudi, with the participation of Eyal Talmudi and Shlomi Shaban.

The Fresh Paint Salon, supported by Outset contemporary art fund, was open to the public throughout the fair and offered a program of lectures and discussions with curators and artists. Children's workshops were offered in collaboration with The Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Reuven Rubin Museum.
