In order to establish a basis for their collaborative creative process, Philip Rantzer and Itamar Shimshony defined a set of actions they were followed, an algorithm designed to form a general structure for the duo’s joint creative process. This was its framework:

• Creating around 30 works on canvas.
•  
• The size of each canvas will be 60x60 cm.
•  
• Each of the artists will be given 15 canvases.
•  
• Each artist will execute a first layer and hand the canvas over to his colleague for the continuation of the work.
•  
• Each stage in the creative process will be photographed and documented.
•  
• A work will be considered as finished after four work stages alternately executed by the artists, so that each artist contributes two layers to each work.
•  
• At the end of the process the artists will choose together the works that will be shown in the exhibition.
•  
• In the exhibition space, the collaborative works will be accompanied with displays of painting and art materials.

Rather than restricting the artists, the defined framework of action implemented by them sets up borders within which the “joy of creation” characterizing the project can manifest itself. Among the works we shall find some that committed themselves to the flat surface and others that spilled over it; works that kept to the square borders of the canvas and others that broke out of them; works that reveal the traces of the four layers and others in which the layers remain unseen. Each work is like an archaeological mound containing the artistic layers through which the artists alternately corresponded with each other, ignored one another, gave each other “the floor” or totally covered each other’s preceding creative layer.
